WHAT IS REQUIRED TO SHIP POULTRY ALONG WITH THE EXTRAS WE DO TO KEEP YOUR BIRDS COMFORTABLE DURING THE SHIPPING PROCESS.
*At this time we can only ship birds only within the USA *
It needs to be 35 degrees to 85 degrees in order to ship birds.
In order to ship poultry one needs to use an airline approved poultry box. The box is is made of heavy cardboard with vent holes that are covered with a cloth filter keeping the birds warmer during the colder months , keeping the bird safe and protected from other birds that might be transported as well.
We provide an extra treat during shipment keeping the birds content and well hydrated. These treats include cantaloupe, sliced apples, drained can corn. In the case of newly hatched chicks we provide them with boiled egg yolks and ripened cantaloupe.
A few days before shipment we give the birds electrolytes and vitamins. We also give the birds plenty of food and water before deparature.
When your birds arrive please keep them in a separate area for up to 21-30 days and give them antibiotics and/or electrolytes for 7 to 10 days upon arrival. This will provide them protection in case of exposure to other birds being shipped that might have a respiratory virus.
EGGS and CHICKS have PRIORITY SHIPPING that is already included in the PRICE.
ESTIMATED SHIPPING COST IS ONLY AN ESTIMATE. THE BUYER AND/OR SELLER AGREE TO SETTLE UP ON DIFFERENCES OF COSTS. ESTIMATES ARE BASED UPON OTHER SHIPMENTS. WITH SHIPPING HATCHING EGGS AND/OR BABY CHICKS THE PRICE OF SHIPPING IS ALREADY FIGURED INTO THE TOTAL COST. ALL STARTED BIRDS AND/OR ADULTS NEED TO GO PRIORITY EXPRESS MAIL.
PLEASE NOTE: BABY CHICKS can feed off the yolk within their body up to four days without food and water, but with our shipments we not only add filters over the holes of chick box, provide boiled egg yolks and/or pears, plus we provide (48) hour handwarmers as well. The $45.00 flat amount on PRIORITY mail cost for shipping baby chicks we also include (1) extra chick if available. We handle every process making sure your chicks arrive healthy.
2 METHODS OF TO RECEIVE YOUR BIRDS BY MAIL:
PRIORITY MAIL- 2 TO 3 DAY DELIVERY
PRIORITY EXPRESS MAIL - 2 DAY DELIVERY MOST ALWAYS UNLESS PURCHASING FOR EXAMPLE FROM ILLINOIS AND/OR KY.
As with all poultry shipments we verify that the purchaser will be available for pick up.
Upon securing the box and/or adding tape to the poultry shipping box we add woodshavings for absorbency and to provide warmth during the shipping process. Treats and/or snacks are added to the box. Birds are inspected carefully and are put in the box. Plastic ties and tape are used to secure the box.
When we leave the post office you will be contacted by phone, text, and/or email giving you the tracking #, & payment difference if any. In almost all cases birds will arrive in 2 days vs 1 day.
If your birds take 2 days to arrive please do not worry. Your birds should be just fine and have been provided food to insure that they are well hydrated. We do not have control over shipments. If this makes you feel a bit nervous we would be happy to meet you in person at our farm by appointment only.
If you choose to pick the birds up in person one can do so upon getting an appointment time. This will save money by not having to pay for the box and/or shipping costs.
If you are purchasing chicks, started, or adult birds there will be the cost of the birds & poultry box payable to Maria Hall before shipment occurs.
PLEASE NOTE TO ALL POULTRY CUSTOMERS RECEIVING BIRDS THROUGH THE USPS
ALL POUTLRY SHIPMENT GO TO EITHER OUR SCOTTSBURG OR HENRYVILLE POST OFFICES. IT IS STANDARD PROCEDURE THAT THESE SHIPMENTS ARE ALL FORWARDED TO THE AIR MAIL FACILITY IN LOUISVILLE, KY. DO NOT BE ALARMED THAT IT MIGHT SAY ON THE TRACKING THAT IT WAS ADDRESSED WRONG. ALL POULTRY SHIPMENTS RUN INTO SECOND DAY DELIVERY. DO NOT EXPECT THEM ANY EARLIER. QUITE OFTEN THE TRACKING WILL SHOW THAT BIRDS WERE RECEIVED BY THE POST OFFICE AND DEPARTED FROM KY. IT IS COMMON THEREAFTER FOR YOU TO NOT SEE ANY FURTHER TRACKING INFO UNTIL THE BIRDS ARE RECEIVED. YOUR BIRDS HAVE BEEN PROVIDED WITH FOOD AND WATER BEFORE SHIPMENT AND HAVE ALSO BEEN PROVIDED WITH FOOD INSIDE THE AIRLINE APPROVED POULTRY CARDBOARD SHIPPING BOX.

Due to the Avian bird flu scare we NO longer do farm visits, but will be happy to meet you in person at Scottsburg, IN 47170 or Henryville, IN 47126 .
