Here are a few possibilities that can delay poultry shipments..........................
1) Hatching egg and/or poultry orders are being filled in the order in which they are paid first.
2) Weather delays such as ice storms making road conditions unsuitable for transport . It needs to be 45 to 85 degrees to ship poultry.
3) We ship poultry only Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. This is to avoid weekend layovers.
4) Deposits and/or full payments are a form of a waiting list on future birds grown. Payments for hatching egg orders are filled in the order they were received. These egg orders are filled in between hatches. When there is no incubator space you will be contacted a few days in advance before shipment occurs to say you are next in line.
5) If a bird becomes unavailable for any reason (death to predator, etc) your deposit and/or full payment will be refunded or you can wait for the next available birds.
6). If you are not able to receive the birds at the time we have selected for shipment, the birds may or may not be available from that specific group. There could be a waiting period of 2 or more weeks while other birds are being grown or while we wait for another hatch. In a matter of a week or two started birds will be in a higher price category. Also are estimate cost for a smaller box could have accomodated the birds and now the birds would require a larger shipping box at a greater cost. Birds that were purchased as unsexed are now sexable and at a higher cost.
7) Poultry delays can occur if we are waiting for poultry boxes to come in.
8) Poultry delays can occur if we are waiting for birds to mature.
9) While we are happy to take photos by camera , this can delay a possible shipment and/or can result in the purchase of birds by somebody else that is passing through Indiana. With the popularity of our Jersey Giants we can not hold the birds without deposit and/or full payment. We are able to send and receive text messages so if you have a cell phone this might be a quicker method for us getting photos to you. Email or call us giving your cell # and we can see what we can do for you.
10) Those that have paid or put down deposits will receive birds and/or eggs first.
11) We try to plan our shipments carefully, however once or twice a year we raise a litter of Newfoundland puppies. It is hard to know when the pain is going to hit and when we might be whelping a litter. Your poultry shipment could be delayed up to 2 weeks due to the litter requiring much needed attention.
