Fall hatches make for better show birds for summer whereby plumage is much nicer, a laying pullet is a more competitive bird , and an older pullet or cockerel by far is more mature being FALL hatched.

In the October of 2017 we purchased a trio of Heritage Standard Bronze Turkeys from Ruth Caron of Texas. I sure did not expect these birds to lay so late in the fall and into early winter. as a result our population went from a trio to 30 in just a short time. six poults from our last hatch were shipped out to california on 3/5/18 , this was our first turkey shipment and it was a big success! Our Heritage Bronze Tom struting around. The Broad Breasted White Turkeys were purchased strictly for meat purposes and went to the Amish to be dressed at (16) weeks of age. I don't think the Broad Breasted varieties even lay eggs. They remind me of Cornish Cross meat birds that are not for production of eggs and/or chicks. We otherwise only have Bronze Turkeys for Exhibition and Breeding. If you have an interest in poults this spring please let us know by texting us at 502-548-1075. As of 2/5/19-The Standard Bronze hen in the nest box is available when purchasing a pair.

WHILE A BREEDER USES THE APA STANDARDS AS AN AIDE IN SELECTION OF FUTURE BREEDERS .........EACH OF US AS BREEDERS ESTABLISH OUR OWN STANDARDS........AS WE KNOW SOME BREEDERS HAVE HIGHER STANDARDS THAN OTHERS. This is what establishes the quality produced by good breeders and the qualities of those that have lower standards producing QUANTITY OVER QUALITY and by producing numerous types of breeds. We breed only QUALITY splash, blacks, and nicely laced blue Jersey Giants with exceptionally nice lacing! Please note that our baby chicks come from quality BREEDER AND APA Quality birds, however with this being said we can not guarantee "Show" birds. Expect to have possible pet, breeder, and our APA show bird types just as the case if you are raising any other species. Some birds will turn out nicer than others.
